Exeter Cathedral Green

Visit the historic City of Exeter. With its bustling shopping centre, Cathedral and historic quayside, there’s plenty to do.

Things to do

Go shopping - there are a wide variety of shops, from the big High Street names to small speciality shops. You can also visit the recent Princesshay development, as well as the Guildhall and Harlequins. There are a wide variety of cafés and restaurants in the City Centre.

Just off the High Street is the Cathedral. Located in Cathedral Close are several historic buildings, including Mol’s Coffee House and the Royal Clarence Hotel. Work on the Cathedral began in Norman times and features a fine vaulted ceiling and an astronomical clock.

For a more unusual attraction, visit the Underground Passages. Originally built in the 14th century to bring fresh water into the City, you can now take a guided tour of the passages.

The historic Quayside, once a busy port, is now a pleasant area to visit, with shops, pubs and a visitor centre. The Quay is about a 10 minute walk from the City Centre, or you can catch a service G bus from the High Street.

Getting to Exeter

By bus - there are buses to Exeter from most parts of Devon.

By train - most services call at Exeter St.Davids, with connecting services to Exeter Central, for the City Centre.
